Dear Dr Coffer,
I just came across your site today as I was hunting for articles on Gerstl. There is so much to taken in! Let me thank you for providing such a comprehensive study of a sadly neglected artist. I am a painter myself and have been obsessed with Gerstl and the Austrian school since the age of fifteen – I am forty-one now. Lol. My own work has been influenced by Gerstl. I wrote a blog on Gerstl some time ago:

I based it mostly on Richard Gerstl/ Oskar Kokoschka Galerie St. Etienne, La Verite Neu from the Dina Vierny-Musee Maillol and various other snippets I have found in books on Austrian Expressionism. I also have catalog on Gerstl by Otto Breicha but its in German and I don’t understand a word of it. Lol. So your website is a godsend.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks.
