Mein lieber, lieber Arnold. – Nun kommst du in 3 Tagen. Morgen kommen also Zemlinsky’s.
Mathilde

My dear dear Arnold, You are so kind and good and I am so very pleased about everything you have written to me. I love you very, very much and I cannot live without you. In three days you will be here. The time passes so dreadfully slowly for me. If only it were Saturday already. I can’t really hope that you might come sooner. If you should however, write to tell me at once when I can expect you. I talk endlessly to the children about you and they will not be at all shy with you. The boy perhaps for a couple of minutes, but certainly not longer. The Zemlinskys are coming tomorrow. I don’t think that I want to have much to do with them. I got very upset with Alex. He has written to Mother ”I send you and the children regards.” I find that this is really not necessary, but in the end it’s all the same to me. You have much to do now, dear. Have you sorted out the washing? Are you bringing the things with you or have you sent them in advance? The weather is not all that bad now. It’s nice by day, at night it rains. I find that quite pleasant. That you have sorted out the money worries so well, pleases me, as you can imagine. How did you do it? Don’t forget to bring tobacco for the landlord, my dear. Many, many kisses my dearest, good sweetheart, from your
Mathilde.
