Mein liebster Arnold.
Mathilde

My dearest Arnold. I am very pleased that you have finished the work for Gärtner. Don’t start something new, have a rest first. The time you are away from me seems so protracted, that I think it will never end. Are you pleased that the Zemlinskys are coming? How are you now getting on with Alex? They have suffered so much with the child. – I speak to the Krügers daily en passant. I heard the thing about the bad stomach from them as well. I am now quite well, but still do not have much of an appetite. That will come in a few days time. -Look, darling, telephoning is just not on. I don’t want to go into Gmunden. Don’t be cross my dear. I love you very very much my darling. – I am constantly being interrupted when writing. Old Engel is here and says the people who occupied the flat before mother, also want to move in. They are staying with Klop and so on. – Don’t be cross, darling, that I am finishing today, but mother stands behind me and keeps on talking. The children look splendid and healthy. A thousand kisses from your
Mathilde
