Mein Lieber. – Was machen meine lieben, lieben Kinder?
deine Mathilde
Meine Sachen habe ich all in Ordnung erhalten. Leb wohl mein Liebster, Lieber, Guter.

My dear. -I did not know, that I would feel like writing a letter so soon, and have therefore had your letters brought quite early today. You can imagine, that I am very sorry, that mother is in Vienna, without me knowing anything about it. Now, also, I have not been well for the last two days, and cannot go out. I have written a pneumatic letter at onceand in any case I’ll try to meet her tomorrow morning. – On the whole, I am now somewhat calmer. As long as I had a hope of getting better, I cried, now I have no longer, and am calm. I will not tell you my address. You might tell it to somebody (with the best intentions) and he might come. But I want to be alone. I do not want any consolation. What consoling thing may be said to me is so little, that it is not worthwhile. Everything else I have already told myself. – If it will set your mind at rest, I can tell you, that I have a nice room, with friendly people not in Vienna. – How are my dear, dear children? How much I love you all! I thank Alex much for his letter, it was very sweet of him to write to me. – You should not have sent mother, there is only going to be a row, and we will both be upset. You know, I could not have imagined one could be so unhappy, without dying. I will send (someone) to the Post Office daily, please, my dear, write to me. Kiss the children for me, and let them not forget me completely.
Your MathildeI have received my things in good order, also the jewellery pieces. You have sent me with them a 5 Kronen piece, which does belong to Gorgi. In Trudi’s possessions there are approximately 8 Gulden, with Gorgi, I do not know how much in the box. Be well, my dear, dear darling.
