Liebster Arnold.

Dearest Arnold. -Thank God that I have [a] letter from you, I have been very uneasy, – My stomach is better again. I have been able to eat very little for the last three days, because I felt rather ill after every meal, Today I have been able to eat as usual. I drank cocoa every evening. How do I spend my time? – In the morning I wait for the postman, then I write to you, go to the post-box with the letter, then a little walking, or I go out in the boat. By that time, it is noon. In the afternoon until tea, I read in the garden, after tea we go out again until dinner, then we eat, go down again until going to bed at 9.30, Thus one day after another. There is little diversion in this, but then that is not necessary. – Tomorrow, if it is nice, I will let Trude go bathing. We now have glorious days. Very hot. – You have now been away for 8 days, and will still be away for so long. – The children look very sweet in their jackets, you will be delighted. Görgi naturally wears his Lederhosen. He insisted to keep his jacket on at night. The asparagus was excellent. The nail scissors are brilliant and I need the […] book* very urgently. Today I will send you the beginning of the list of things you have to bring with you. – See that the Old One does everything properly, there is no more to say. Many many kisses, my dearest, your

* There is no obvious translation of Abweisbuch, which was presumably a record or notebook of some description.
